Abi-less Lady Spikers fall to club team Phil. Air Force in PNG finals

The De La Salle Lady Spikers succumb to the Philippine Air Force 25-22, 26-28, 20-25, 26-24, 15-7 to finish runner-up in the 2014 Philippine National Games earlier today.

Similar to their last UAAP campaign, La Salle swept the elimination round, including a 3-set win over their finals opponent, composed of veteran players including former UAAP stalwarts. Unfortunately, they came up short again.

The Lady Spikers were a point away from capturing the title after trailing 21-23 but two costly errors enabled the Air Force team to snatch the win and force a deciding set.

Air Force then caught fire as they went on a 7-1 blitz to start the final set and managed to hold on to the lead en route to their back-to-back championship.

The Lady Spikers played in this tournament without UAAP Season 76 captain Abi Maraño.
