College of St. Benilde suffered another heart-breaking loss. But unlike their opening day match, it was EAC Generals who played catch-up and this time, pulled off the win 73-72 yesterday.
Trailing early in the start of the game, the Blazers stormed back in the second period to lead by 7 at the half. The team controlled the pace throughout most of the second half and at with 5 minutes left in the game, had a 12-point lead.
And just when they looked headed to notch their first win in NCAA Season 89, the Generals went on 15-2 run and held the Blazers to just 2 points in the last 4 minutes of the match.
Successive turnovers by the Blazers down the stretch enabled EAC to take the lead via foul shots.
Paolo Taha scored 17 points while Mark Romero and Luis Sinco added 16 and 14 for St. Benilde, which dropped to 0-2.
In the junior’s division, La Salle Greenhills defeated EAC for 88-49 to notch their first win in 2 games.
