Trisha Piatos scored a game-high 22 points, including six triples made, en route to the Lady Archers’ 63-52 win over the Centro Escolar University Lady Scorpions earlier today at the San Juan Arena.
“I think that is only the fruits of labor that Trisha has been doing. She’s one player that has been doing a lot of extra work and extra shooting during training,” expressed Lady Archers Head Coach Tyrone Bautista after the game.
In addition, Ara Abaca had another double-double outing with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Nicky Garcia added 6 markers and grabbed 8 boards.
This win gives the Lady Archers an undefeated 2-0 record.
“I’m not too concerned with our standing here. Again, I would like to reiterate, every game and every practice we would just want to improve and we want to get better,” added Coach Bautista.
Playing with a 33-32 advantage to start the second half, the Lady Archers got their game going after igniting a commanding 14-3 run leading to a sizeable 47-36 lead midway through the third quarter.
La Salle finally slammed on the door shut for CEU in the final quarter after uncorking a series of three-pointers and fastbreak layups which swelled the lead to 63-47. Coach Bautista then emptied his entire bench finish the game after that big run with over a minute left.
For their upcoming games, Coach Bautista looks forward for more improvement and cohesion for his team, saying, “We’ll take it one game at a time. We just try to keep on improving every game.”
