Kib Montalbo’s Green Archer debut, Lady Spikers on Sports Unlimited and other news

Green Archer rookie Kib Montalbo made a brief debut against UST last Saturday, posting 3 points and 1 rebound in 6 minutes of playing time.

Kib just joined the team a couple of days after graduating from high school in Bacolod and the coaches deemed it wise not to rush things and slowly integrate him into the system.

Despite the short minutes, coach Gee Abanilla was satisfied with Kib’s collegiate debut.

“Unfortunately, kararating lang nung bata eh. A few days lang, wala pang one week sa amin. I’m really surprised with the way he adjusted. Wala pang one week pero alam na niya ‘yung ginagawa ng team,” Abanilla said of the lanky Montalbo.”

For his part, Kib is all thrilled to play for La Salle and vows to play hard in every game. He is also excited to play alongside Jeron Teng.

“Jeron (Teng) is one of the best scorers in the UAAP. But we complement each other because whenever I see an open guy I pass it directly for an early attack,” expressed the 16-year-old, who is labeled as a pass-first type of player.
