La Salle turned hot in the second half to rip Ateneo, 3-0, and take the solo lead in the 71st UAAP women’s football tournament held Sunday at the Ateneo Ocampo Field in Quezon City.
After a scoreless first half, the Lady Archers connected on goals by Jessica Ryon, Clarissa Lazaro and Paula Bravo to cruise to their third win in as many games for nine points.
Ryon kicked the team’s first goal in the 61st minute before Lazaro scored 18 minutes later. Bravo then settled the final count after a goal in the 88th minute.
University of Santo Tomas remains in third with 1-1-0 (three points) while Ateneo dropped to fifth with 0-2-1 (one point).
In men’s action, UP and La Salle kept their share of the lead by beating separate opponents at the Erenchun Field.
The Maroons handed defending champion FEU its second defeat after a 2-1 win while Wendy Tee hit the Archers’ lone goal in edging past Ateneo, 1-0, for similar four points.
In the third match, UST gained a share of third place after beating University of the East, 3-0. The Tigers tied the Red Shirts with similar 1-1-1 records for four points.
