The La Salle Lady Spikers booked a seat in the final four after easily disposing Adamson University 25-13, 25-21, 25-12 yesterday in the 71st UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
This will be the team’s first semifinal stint since 2005, the year that they won their 3rd consecutive championship. La Salle joins defending champion Far Eastern University on top of the helm with an identical 9-1 record. Both schools have a three game lead over Adamson, which dropped to 6-4 in the win-loss column.
In what could be her best performance this season, Kaye Martinez provided excellent set plays all throughout the contest. Manila Santos and Stephanie Mercado led the team with a combined 25 points. Angela Benting paced the Lady Falcons with 9 points.
Earlier, UE defeated NU 25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 25-23 to keep their semifinal hopes alive. With a 3-7 slate, the Lady Warriors are two games behind UST and Ateneo, who are currently tied for 4th at 5-5. NU is dead last in the tournament at 1-9.
