We caught up with some of the Lady Spikers and asked to share their thoughts and feelings on the current season.
Regine Diego
How did it feel to become champions last year? Is there any pressure on you as this year’s defending champs?
We felt really happy because our trainings finally paid-off. This year of course there is pressure on us because people are really expecting us to do well again this year.
Which team do you think will give you a run for your money this UAAP season, and why?
It’s UST because they are fresh from winning the V-league title. They really want to get the UAAP championship this time.
What do you think are the team’s strongest points and edge over the other teams and what are the things you still need to improve on, if there’s any.
Edge: Blocking, Offense
Needs improvement: Floor defense
What are your Expectations this season?
We expect the best of course. CHAMPIONS!!
Abigail Marano
As a rookie, how does it feel to be part of the team?
Of course, it’s our pleasure. It feels great every single day. I feel blessed and honored to be part of a champion team, the De La Salle Lady Spikers.
Which team do you think will give you a run for your money this UAAP season, and why?
No doubt it’s UST. I think winning the Unigames and V-league would just make them even hungrier in winning the UAAP crown.
What do you think are the team’s strongest points and edge over the other teams and what are the things you still need to improve on, if there’s any.
Same with Ate Reg- Blocking, Offense and need to improve our floor defense.
What are your Expectations this season?
To bring home the bacon!
Emili Zuno
How did it feel to become champions last year? Is there any pressure on you as this year’s defending champs?
We felt very happy and honored. Yes, there is a pressure on us this year because the school and the managers are expecting a lot from us to do well again.
Which team do you think will give you a run for your money this UAAP season, and why?
It’s UST because they also have a strong line-up. I think that being the V-League champion makes them more eager to get this year’s UAAP crown.
What do you think are the team’s strongest points and edge over the other teams?
Blocking and offense.
What are your Expectations this season?
To give our best in every game and to be the UAAP champs.
Melissa Gohing
How did it feel to become champions last year? Is there any pressure on you as this year’s defending champs?
Happier than ever! Absolutely there is pressure because it’s easier on achieving something than maintaining.
Which team do you think will give you a run for your money this UAAP season, and why?
The most competitive one which is UST but every team should always be taken seriously.
What do you think are the team’s strongest points and edge over the other teams?
We got tall people.
What are your Expectations this season?
Defend the crown! Yeah Baby!
Joanne Siy
As a rookie, how does it feel to be part of the team?
It feels great because in this team, we are like a family. Being part of a champion team is really great for me because it challenges me to push myself and try to achieve what my senior teammates have done last year.
Which team do you think will give you a run for your money this UAAP season, and why?
UST. They are one of the toughest teams this season.
What do you think are the team’s strongest points and edge over the other teams and what are the things you still need to improve on, if there’s any.
Blocking and offense. We need to improve more on our defense and receiving.
What are your Expectations this season?
I expect this season to be a memorable one for me and I hope we defend the crown.
