As if the heartbreaks for College of St. Benilde in season 89 of the NCAA wasn’t enough, the Blazers suffered another heartbreak as Letran came to life in the fourth to squeak out a 95-89 victory in overtime last night at the Arena in San Juan.
The Knights shrugged off a slow start as they went on an 8-0 run late to take an 82-80 lead with 1:05 left. Mark Romero then scored a basket to tie the game at 82 and force overtime.
In the overtime it was all Letran as Mark Cruz and Raymond Almazan combined to pummel the Blazers and qualify for the semifinals with a 12-3 record. The Blazers, who was playing without Paolo Taha, dropped to 5-10.
