After a shaky opening game against UP, the De La Salle Green Archers look to play with more cohesion and energy against the UE Red Warriors tomorrow.
“We prepared something, it’s going to be a fast game for us”, said coach Gee Abanilla during the post-game interview last Sunday.
With a deep backcourt and an agile frontline that can run the floor, the team will look to capitalize on UE’s lack of size by dominating the inside and in turn lead to more opportunities to push the tempo and score on the break.
Pregame Points
Overcoming the pesky Warriors – The Archers lost twice to UE in the preseason including a 65-67 upset in the FilOil tournament.
Yutien Andrada – He appears to be fully recovered from his ACL injury, which incidentally he sustained against UE in the second round last season. “I say he is about 90% recovered already”, said coach Gee. “He provides a lot of stability in the 4 spot”. Last Sunday, Andrada scored 10 points and made a key block in the closing seconds that sealed the win.
Rob Roi – UE’s Roi Sumang has so far been the only bright spot in the Warriors campaign this year. He averaged closed to 14 points in the preseason and was the only UE player in double figures with 21 in their lopsided loss to NU on opening day. Put the clamps on this guard and rob him of his explosiveness.
Uniform – Hey make sure that all patches and numbers are in place. Better safe than sorry.
Go Archers!
