Pregame: Green Archers vs Red Warriors 8/25

Previous Encounter – DLSU def UE 67-59

While many think that this game is going to be a walk in the park for the Green Archers, I wouldn’t say that just yet.

History is not on La Salle’s side as they have lost to UE in the second round for the past two years. In fact if we go way back, the last time they swept the Red Warriors in the eliminations was 10 years ago.

Ironically, the UE coach in 2002 was Boysie Zamar, now back at the helm after replacing Jerry Codiñera at the start of the second round.

The Green Archers are coming off a big win over NU last week to end the first round at 4-3. This game says a lot of how good this team can be and they hope to further step up their play in the second half of the season.

“There are lot of things that still need to be worked on, one would be maturity,” says coach Gee Abanilla. “We had a lot of close games and we did not get the right breaks in the end but I just feel that in all our games, we at least had a chance to win. I’m just hoping that we learn something from this”.

Pregame Point:

Sumang-Total – The only UE player to average in double digits in scoring(16.6ppg) and contributes to more than a quarter of the team’s offensive production. The team leader in assists and steals.  He would probably be the only player to contain if the Archers are to notch their third-straight victory and more importantly tie their win total last year.

Go Archers!
