Pregame: Green Archers vs Tamaraws 9/26

Almond Vosotros4PM – MOA Arena

“Final Four spots aren’t given, they’re earned.”

This is what Jeron Teng tweeted last Sunday, moments after knowing that the Green Archers will have to through a playoff match against FEU for the last semifinal berth. The winner will go up against Ateneo on Saturday.

La Salle could have already gotten the fourth seed in the Final Four had the Tamaraws prevailed over NU. With all 3 teams tied at 9-5 at the end of the eliminations, the Bulldogs automatically become the third seed by virtue of a better quotient. They will face UST in the semis.

A few seasons back, a record of 9-5 would already be enough for a slot in the semis. In fact, this was La Salle’s win-loss record when they last won the championship back in 2007. Now, the league has become more competitive that even a winning record is not a guarantee for making it to the Final Four.

Tomorrow they will be fighting for their survival, to extend their season and have at least a crack at ending some school’s title run.

Whatever happens, this team has come a long way after 3 struggling seasons. Admit it; we all have a good feeling about this team right now. There’s a certain air of confidence that they have not displayed in a long while. Better days are indeed coming.

Final 4ward DLSU!
