Ateneo coach Bo Perasol has been ordered by the UAAP Board to serve the one-game suspension he incurred for almost violently confronting a De La Salle fan right after the Blue Eagles-Green Archers game two weeks ago.
“Coach Bo was in the game venue [MOA] when he was supposed to be serving his suspension, that is why the board decided that he should be serving the penalty,” said Season 76 secretary treasurer Malou Isip of host Adamson University. Perasol was at the Big Dome when Ateneo played University of the East (UE) last Sunday, a violation of a UAAP rule that a suspended coach must not be in the playing venue.
Isip stressed the Board is not imposing a second suspension on Perasol, but merely ordering him to serve ban.
Ateneo and UE representatives to the Board did not join the deliberation.
UE sought a clarification on the particular UAAP rule that tasked the UAAP Board to hold a meeting yesterday (Thursday) at the Casa Espanol in Manila. Red Warriors officials has earlier maintained they were not after a forfeiture of their lost game to the Blue Eagles—that resulted to UE’s elimination from the Final Four race—but were seeking clarification for the infraction.
The Board also decided to forfeit Far Eastern University’s five victories where Vangie Soriano played. Soriano was disqualified for playing in a commercial tournament that was held simultaneously with the season.

THE UAAP board officially forfeited five won games of the Far Eastern University women’s basketball team on Thursday after one its players was found to have suited up in a commercial league this season.
The league made the decision during its regular board meeting when Vangie Soriano was discovered to have played in a tournament that was held simultaneously with the ongoing Season 76.
Soriano was disqualified from playing this season after seeing action in a championship game of a 10-day commercial league last July 14.
The Lady Archers, however, lost to Adamson 52-54 last Wednesday.

During the UAAP board meeting yesterday, things went a bit personal between boards reps from La Salle and Ateneo.
From Spin.ph
League insiders revealed a debate erupted between Ateneo and De La Salle representatives over the sanctions Perasol should get for his presence in Sunday’s game against University of the East at the Mall of Asia Arena while serving a one-game suspension.
A source said De La Salle stood in favor of slapping Ateneo with a forfeiture, insisting that Perasol violated a league rule that restricts suspended team officials from being in the venue.
Ricky Palou, Ateneo’s representative to the UAAP board, later lashed out at DLSU board represenatives Henry Atayde and Edwin Reyes at the end of a meeting that took over five hours to finish.
In an interview with abscbnnews.com, Palou insisted both Atayde and Reyes are not qualified to be members of the UAAP board because the two are neither an athletic director nor a professor or member of the school administration as the position called for.
“If you look at the rules, they are not qualified to be UAAP board members,” Palou told abscbnnews.com. “Atayde and Reyes are consultants.”
When pressed to comment on Palou’s statements, Atayde said no less than De La Salle president Br. Ricardo Laguda, FSC gave them the task of representing the school in the UAAP board.
