After 5 years, we will have a new men’s basketball champion in the UAAP.
UST defeated Ateneo 82-74 last Wednesday to become the fourth seed in the semis. The Blue Eagles will miss the Final 4 for the first time since 1998.

UAAP: Lady Archers end elimination round with win. Junior Archers fall to FEU in semis
The DLSU Lady Archers defeated UE 82-58 last Wednesday to finish their elimination round campaign at 12-2. They will have the twice-to-beat advantage when they face UST in the Final 4 which starts this Sunday. Top seed NU will face Adamson in the other semis match-up.

In junior’s basketball, DLSZ lost to FEU 65-55 in their knock-out semis match last Tuesday. The Junior Archers will finish 4th in the tournament.

Trailing 51-37 to start the fourth quarter, the Junior Archers were not ready to let their season slip away just yet as they utilized a full-court press that helped them go on a 16-6 run to cut the deficit to just four points, 57-53, at the 4:28 mark.
But, FEU-Diliman responded with a 4-0 run capped off by a booming triple from the left wing by Jj Domingo, giving the Baby Tamaraws a 61-53 lead with 1:48 to go. That shot proved to be the finishing blow as DLSZ would only score two more points before the final buzzer sounded.
Domingo had an all around performance with a game-high 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Renzo Subido finished with 17 points in his final UAAP game as a Junior Archer.

NCAA Basketball: CSB, LSGH lose to San Beda

Three-time champion and four peat seeking San Beda ripped St. Benilde apart, 65-46 in their second meeting in the 89th season of the NCAA at the Arena in San Juan.
It was a far cry from their first meeting last June 22 right on opening day of this season that St. Benilde is hosting. With CSB up, 70-69 in the dying seconds of the game thanks to Fons Saavedra’s time triple, the Red Lions did the [un]expected. An inboundpass from Rome Dela Rosa to Art Dela Cruz [who was then guarded by Saavedra] paved the way for San Beda’s game-winning basket.
Today, it was a completely different story. Tight defense by San Beda limited the Blazers to just two points in the first ten minutes of action. St. Benilde went 0-of-14 from the field in the first period, with Jonathan Grey scoring the Blazers’ two points from the stripe.
Robert Bartolo scored St. Benilde’s first field goal in today’s game at the 7:23 mark fo the second period.
It was a one-sided game from the tipoff with the Red Lions opening the game with a 17-0 run.
The win gave the Red Lions another taste of leadership in the standings with an 11-2 record while the Blazers dropped their eighth game against five wins.
