Round-Up: Green Batters, Chess teams off to a hot start and other UAAP sports news

The Green Batters start their UAAP Season 76 campaign with three straight wins. They defeated last year’s runner-up NU 5-1 on opening day then thrashed defending champion Ateneo 12-6 last January 9. They finished the week with another win, this time against UST 14-4.

La Salle finished 5th in this 6-team tournament last season.

UAAP Softball

The Lady Batters continue to struggle as they absorb their 5th defeat in 6 games, losing to UE 16-7. They now share last place with Ateneo at 1-5

UAAP Football

The Green Booters defeated UST 3-2 last week while finishing their game against Ateneo last Sunday in a draw. They remain in solo third behind FEU and UP.

The Lady Booters meanwhile lost to UST 1-3 last Sunday. They are tied with UP at the bottom of the standings.

UAAP Volleyball

The Green Spikers lost to Ateneo in 5 sets 25.23 23.25 25.27 25.21 09-15 last Saturday. They are currently at 7th place.

UAAP Chess

The De La Salle Chess teams swept their opening weekend matches. The Green Woodpushers defeated UST 3-1 and Ateneo 3-1 while the defending champion Lady Woodpushers dominated FEU and Adamson, all with a final score of 3-1.

All chess matches will be played at the Enrique Razon sports complex in DLSU.

UAAP Tennis

Rough start for the Green and Lady Tennisters as they dropped their opening weekend assignments. Men’s team lost UP 3-2 and UST 1-4 while the defending women’s division champions fall to NU 1-4.

All tennis games will be played at Olivarez College in Paranaque City.
