The Weekly Rundown 2.19.18

Overall, it was not exactly a good week for DLSU.

We start off last Wednesday when the Baseball team getting their first taste of defeat this season at the hands of defending champion ADMU 6-9. The Green Batters managed though to bounce back with an 11-4 beating over UP last Sunday to close out the first round tied for first place at 4-1.

And speaking of that first “L” of the season, the case was the same for both our football teams.

In a rematch of last year’s finals, the Lady Booters succumbed to UST 0-1 last Wednesday. It did not take that long for the defending champions to get back to their winning ways as they defeated FEU 1-0 Saturday to put themselves in solo second in the standings.

In a classic showdown between rivals, DLSU yielded to defending champion ADMU 0-1 last Thursday. Lone goal from the team came from Mauro Acot at the 83rd minute but they eventually ran out of time to overcome the 2 early goals scored by ADMU to start the second half. Despite the loss, they are currently tied for 3rd in the standings. They shall next face UE this coming Thursday.

In softball, the struggles continue for DLSU as they managed to win only once in all their three games this past week. They share the second to the last spot with UP at 3-5.

The Green Spikers went 0-2 this week at the hands of powerhouse teams FEU and NU. They however are expected to get their second win this season on Wednesday as they face winless UE.

Over in Tennis, both DLSU teams lost to their respective opponents last weekend to finish the first round of competition. The men’s team are currently in 2nd at 2-2 while the ladies remain winless in three outings.
