The Weekly Rundown 3.12.18

Looking to redeem themselves from three straight setbacks, the De La Salle Men’s football team started the second round with a 2-0 win over winless Adamson last Wednesday while their match against defending champion Ateneo yesterday ended in a scoreless draw.

Currently, they are tied for the 4th spot in the standings with NU at 13 points.

In the women’s division, La Salle lost to UST 2-5 Saturday. The Golden Tigresses’ win gives them an outright ticket to the finals while the Lady Booters dropped to 3rd behind FEU. With two games left to be played in the elimination round (against FEU and UP), the team looks to get at least two draws in order for them to get a shot in defending their championship.

They saved the best for last.

The La Salle Lady Tennisters defeated UP 3-2 yesterday, to clinch third place in this UAAP season. Losing their first 4 matches in the tournament, the girls won their last two assignments for the bronze medal finish.

La Salle also ended up third in the men’s division

In a dry-run of their upcoming finals series, La Salle and Adamson battled it out in their last assignment of the elimination round. The Green Batters prevailed 14-5 for their 9th win in 10 games.

The best of three championship series will begin tomorrow while Game 2 will be on Friday. If needed, the winner-take-all-match will be played on March 20.

The Green Spikers lost to Ateneo 1-3 in their first match of the second round last Wednesday. With a 3-5 slate, they are currently locked up in a 4-way tie for the fourth spot in the team standings. They shall next face NU on March 18.

In Chess, the La Salle men’s and women’s teams are currently in 2nd and 1st respectively after the first round of competition.

La Salle finishes 2nd in the UAAP streetdance competition held yesterday at the MOA Arena. FEU emerged as champion while UP claimed the third spot. Since this event started in 2011, the La Salle Dance Company – Street has won thrice including last year. Just like cheerdance, this competition is not included in the general championship tally.
