The De La Salle Lady Booters successfully defended their UAAP women’s football title Thursday with a 2-1 win over UST. Both goals were made by graduating player Kyla Inquig.
Unlike last year wherein they dominated the entire season, La Salle struggled this year due to player injuries. With both squads facing each other again for the championship, the Lady Booters were the underdogs as they lost to the Tigresses twice in the elimination round. But despite the pain and challenges, the team pulled through to clinch their 10th UAAP crown.

In the men’s division, the match between the Green Booters and UST last Sunday ended in a 1-1 draw. La Salle remains in 4th place in the standings with 2 games left in the elimination round.
Incidentally, their next two opponents will be NU and UE – both are trying to overtake La Salle for that semis seat.
The La Salle chess teams finished first and second in the women’s and men’s division respectively at the conclusion of the tournament last Sunday. For the ladies, this will be their 7th title in 10 years.
The Green Spikers prevailed over UP in straight sets last Saturday. At 5-8, they can only hope for a triple tie with UST and Adamson to still have a shot in making it to the semis. Their final elimination round game will be against FEU on Sunday.
