Tough Grind Ahead for the Lady Spikers

At this point, the Lady Spikers have their sights on getting that twice-to-beat edge in the upcoming Final 4.

The team has three games remaining in the elimination round, all against teams that are still in contention.

Tomorrow, they shall face UST, a team that took the defending champions to 5 sets in their season opener. The Golden Tigresses are in desperation mode now as they cannot afford to lose another match if they still want to have a shot in entering the semis. Expect them to play with a lot of fire and determination.

On Wednesday, La Salle will go up against Adamson, just one of two squads that managed to beat them this season. And it was a convincing one at that.

As of this writing, the Lady Falcons are a full game behind NU for the 4th spot in the standings. Let’s see how they will bounce back from two consecutive 5-set losses to Ateneo and FEU. One thing is for sure though – the Lady Spikers will be frothing with a sense of payback for that first round loss.

And finally on April 15, it will be another classic showdown with the Lady Eagles. If the Lady Spikers manage to beat UST and Adamson, the twice-to-beat will already be secured and their final elimination round game will essentially have no more bearing. But since it is against Ateneo, the team is expected to play hard nevertheless.

Three games in eight days. Based from their first round match-up, the Lady Spikers will have a tough time against the Golden Tigresses and Lady Falcons. Both of these upcoming opponents will be playing for their playoff lives.

Tough grind ahead for the team to close out the elimination round. Let’s hope that the long break won’t have an effect in their game.
